Blade runner – G&A Lombardi’s trailer range hits new heights

If you’ve ever had the opportunity to see a wind turbine blade carefully making its way along a highway, then you would know – it is an impressive sight.

But as transport trailer experts G&A Lombardi understand, those delicate 80-metre structures need a special kind of transportation, which is why their recent relationship as an agent for international trailer manufacturer Faymonville is so important.

“This type of new energy is a fast-growing industry,” says G&A Lombardi General Manager, Paul McGovern – adding that transporting a wind turbine blade is a high specialised undertaking.

Ultra-extendable, four axle and steerable, Faymonville blade trailers can deliver any extreme-length cargo.

Along with specialised trailers, G&A Lombardi, a more than 50-year-old Forestfield, Western Australia-based company, offers the sale, service and repair of flat tops, end tippers, side tippers, road train dollies, low loaders, refrigerated semi-trailers, grain tippers and extendables.

Choosing to partner with only quality brands and ensuring a solid relationship with their manufacturers is the key to their success says Paul, adding that providing clients the right trailer for every job is what has made them such an important player within the WA transport industry.

“We cover the full range of required trailers, from plant trailers to semi-trailers to heavy loaders, and then there are our specialised trailers,” he says.

Among G&A Lombardi trailer brands are:

Faymonville – G&A Lombardi’s newest partner, this manufacturer is headquartered in Luxembourg and builds semi-trailers for the special haulage industry. Its brand portfolio includes transport solutions from 15 tonnes up to 15,000 tonnes.

MaxiTRANS – Ballarat, Victoria-based, this transport manufacturer initially began working with G&A Lombardi in 1982, re-establishing its relationship, after a break, in 2020. They now carry the full range of MaxiTRANS brands which include Freighter, Maxi-CUBE, Lusty EMS, Hamelex White and Trout River.

Tag-a-Long Trailers – Manufacturers of tag plant and machinery trailers, dog and pig trailers and drop decks, this company, also located in Ballarat, has been designing and building for more than 35 years. They began supplying G&A Lombardi in 2022

Foton Mobility – A supplier of hydrogen buses and electric trucks, they provide

G&A Lombardi with new energy options for its clients. Paul had the fortune of taking one of the first WA test drives of Foton’s T5 electric truck.

Road West Transport – G&A Lombardi is the sole WA dealer for their range of equipment, including the Steelite, Hard-Lite, Contractor Tipper, and aluminium Bulk-Lite Tipper.

While reputable brands that provide a varied product are vital, Paul says G&A Lombardi’s parts and service departments are just as essential to the business. Readily available, operating from 7 am to 11pm daily, the service centre has ten full sized bays.

Meanwhile their spare part department is fully stocked with all makes of trailer parts and transport equipment. Making life even easier for weary drivers is the fact that the G&A Lombardi dealership is located on a double road train route.

“It’s convenient because it allows drivers to come in with multiple trailers without having to unhook them,” Paul says.
