Upgrades to one of western Victoria’s busiest freight routes have been completed, with another four sections in progress.
5.5 kilometres of the Henty Highway in Victoria has been improved following road rehabilitation works completed at Brimbank North between Wardles Road West and Ryans Road.
Works are also underway at Byrneville between Coffeys Road and Minyip-Dimboola Road.
In addition, further improvements will take place across sections of the highway in Rosebery and Beulah.
The Henty Highway project is part of the Victorian Government’s $780 million investment in maintaining the state’s road assets, and builds on road rehabilitation works undertaken last year across a 7.5-kilometre stretch of the Henty Highway.
Minister for Roads and Road Safety, Melissa Horne, said the project will benefit Victorian freight upon completion.
“We know how important it is to ensure our road freight and farming network can continue to move safely and efficiently,” she said.
“That’s why we’re investing in maintaining our regional roads across the state, including delivering these upgrades on the Henty Highway.”
According to Member for Western Victoria, Jacinta Ermacora, the Henty Highway upgrade will ensure the Government can continue to maintain the key route and farming route.
All works are scheduled for completion by the end of May, weather permitting.
In other news, two more sections of the Wimmera highway, at Dooen and St Arnaud East, can expect repairs and upgrades to begin in the next few weeks.
