Chevron Australia awards contract to Qube

Integrated energy company, Chevron Australia, has awarded Qube a contract for the provision of supply base services in Karratha, Onslow and Perth.

Qube said in a statement the contract will include investment in new tech and systems in Western Australia, leveraging synergies from the facilities’ assets and provide the broader oil and gas industry with exciting new operational options.

“Qube’s diversified experience in complete supply chain and logistics services in the oil and gas market ensured that Qube was best placed to deliver Chevron Australia with a truly integrated operational solution, incorporating high safety standards that aligned with Chevron’s best practice requirements,” said Qube.

“The services that Qube will be providing to Chevron across Western Australia as part of this contract include facility leasing and management, cross-dock, pack, consolidate, dispatch, staging, loadout and transport, inventory material management, warehouse and yard storage, quarantine management, fuel distribution at Wheatstone Downstream and other ad-hoc services.

“As part of the contract, Qube will assume operational management of the existing Chevron facilities in Gap Ridge, Karratha, and Hazelmere, Perth, and operate these as multi-share facilities with Qube’s other key clients, as well as continuing to service Chevron’s requirements.”

In September, Qube announced a $90 million acquisition.

Meanwhile, Chevron committed $2.45 million to the Australian School of Petroleum and Energy Resources in support of carbon capture and storage research.

Located at the University of Adelaide, a new state-of-the-art facility will enable researchers to investigate how carbon dioxide (CO2) is stored within geological formations after its injection into subsurface reservoirs, and how CO2 flows through and interacts with rocks and pore waters on a microscopic scale.

Earlier this year, Cummins signed an agreement to explore the formation of a strategic alliance to develop commercially viable business opportunities in alternative energy sources including hydrogen.
