Feedback encouraged for Coomera Connector design

With construction well underway on Queensland’s $2.2 billion Coomera Connector Stage 1 project, community members are being encouraged to have their say on the Central design.

Design details for the Coomera Connector Stage 1 Central package include detailed layouts for the eight-kilometre, six-lane section of the project from Helensvale Road to Smith Street Motorway.

Earlier public consultation in 2020 and community feedback resulted in design improvements and changes to the reference design, as well as changes from project planning and technical investigations onsite.

With construction of Stage 1 well underway, Queensland Minister for Transport and Main Roads, Bart Mellish, said momentum is building for the delivery of one of Queensland’s largest transport infrastructure projects.

“The Coomera Connector is a major project in the Miles Government’s commitment to Building Queensland by investing in infrastructure that supports more jobs, builds resilience and underpins future prosperity for Queenslanders,” he said.

Coomera Connector Stage 1 will progressively open to traffic in sections from late 2025, weather and site conditions permitting.

“The Coomera Connector is a game-changer for South-East Queenslanders – it means less time stuck in traffic and more time with your loved ones,” said Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, Catherine King.

“We know that road congestion is a significant issue for the region – and a drain on the economy – which is why we’re getting on with delivering this critical piece of infrastructure.”
