Feedback sought on draft Australian Dangerous Goods Code

The transport industry is being invited to have a say in the draft Australian Dangerous Goods (ADG) Code, with consultation now under way.

A high-level update of the code happens every two years, however, this is the first full review of the Code since the seventh edition was released in 2007.

The National Transport Commission (NTC) has released a Consultation Regulatory Impact Statement (C-RIS) to gather feedback on the draft Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road & Rail and evaluate the impact of proposed changes.

The code specifies the requirements for the transport of dangerous goods by road and rail in Australia. It sets out rules and guidelines for classifying, packaging, marking, and transporting dangerous goods safely.

Public consultation is now open, focusing on key areas to modernise the code, simplify compliance processes, improve safety, and better align with international standards.

To have your say, visit the NTC website to review the draft code and C-RIS, or register for an upcoming information webinar.

These sessions will be held on Thursday October 10 and Tuesday October 22. Recordings of these webinars will also be made available.

Public consultation closes on December 10, 2024.
