Followmont wins award

Followmont Transport has been awarded for its training and development programs.

The transport and logistics company was recently presented with the 2022 National Trucking Association Award which recognises an operator’s proactive actions to improve their organisation’s training strategy and safety culture.

Followmont Transport introduced their Frontline Leadership program in 2019 to nurture and support the talent within its team.

After many of its workers transitioned to new roles within the company and received promotions, Followmont saw this as an opportunity to create a Learning & Development department to design and facilitate the training.

Followmont Managing Director, Mark Tobin, said taking the title of National Training Excellence is a milestone achievement for the business.

“This award is what we have been working towards for the past few years, we have invested heavily in our Learning & Development programs, striving to provide an industry leading experience for our team,” he said.

“Over time, we have evolved from a focus of just moving freight to one which empowers our people to lead the business and execute the business purpose and strategy.

“We focus on how we help our people grow and how we empower them to be leaders of today and future leaders of industry.

“It’s critical we get this right, as an industry we need to attract new blood and youth to transport and look at how we keep our current teams engaged.”

Followmont’s program was modelled around the kind of leadership it wanted to promote across the business, focusing on its 6C model of care, communication, collaboration, challenge, coaching and courage.
