The freight branch at Transport for NSW has today advised truckies that the popular Frank Partridge rest area near Sydney will be closed overnight for more than a month.
The rest area located 4km south of the Menangle Road Overbridge, will be closed from November 16 to December 15 (8pm-5am), and again from January 15 to January 20, 2023 (8pm to 5am), due to pavement work in the area.
From Sunday October 30 until March 1, 2023, the work will be carried out between 8pm and 5am Sunday to Thursday between Menangle and Douglas Park.
The closest alternative stop for southbound truckies is Pheasants Nest Rest Area, located 17km south of the Frank Partridge rest area.
The freight branch also advises that during this time, oversize and overmass vehicles travelling from Sydney to Canberra that are more than 5m wide will need to temporarily park in a dedicated space on the Hume Motorway, 450m south of Menangle Road (southbound) and call Channel 21.
These vehicles will then be assisted back into the Hume Motorway to safely continue their journey. This process should take no longer than 30 minutes.
OSOM vehicles travelling from Canberra to Sydney that are more than 5m wide will need to temporarily park at Ampol Service Station Pheasants Nest (northbound), 17km south of Douglas park and call Channel 21.
These vehicles will then be assisted back into the Hume Motorway to safely continue their journey. This process should take no longer than 30 minutes.
