Well known truckies and farmers, Danyelle and Anthony Haigh, are inviting truckies who are travelling near their outback property on Christmas day to come and join them for a free meal and great company.
Since moving to their remote outback farm, Athelle Outback Hideaway – about 200km north of Alice Springs – the couple have juggled establishing themselves as hay farmers in the middle of the desert, while continuing to operate their water drilling business.
And so the couple knows all too well about the challenges faced by long distance truck drivers, who often spend weeks at a time away from home.
Danyelle took to social media to invite truckies to stop by on Christmas day. “If there are any truckies travelling past our place (Athelle Outback Hideaway), and working on Christmas Day, we will have breakfast, lunch or dinner available here for you, free of charge with awesome company!” she said.
“We are only 28km off the Stuart Highway with road train access and plenty of yummy Christmas food. No one should be alone on Christmas Day! Just send me a message if you think you’ll be in our area.”
