Hino Australia announces its 2025 National Skills Champions

Hino Australia has announced the winners its 2025 National Skills Champions, with awards presented across the service, parts and sales categories.

Eighteen finalists from around the country competed in the final yesterday, Thursday November 13, which was held at Hino Australia’s Sydney headquarters after four months of qualifying rounds.

“One of the longest-running events of its kind in the industry, the National Skills contest demonstrates Hino Australia’s dedication to continually enhancing the knowledge and capabilities of our dealership teams,” said Richard Emery, President and CEO of Hino Australia.

For service technicians, there was a series of practical assessments that tested competitors’ diagnostic and technical skills on the entire model range.

Admir Music from Prestige Hino was crowned winner in the service category, with Shaun O’Callaghan of WA Hino in second placed, and Matthew Rentenaar from Till Hino finishing in third place.

Sales consultants showcased their knowledge and skills in a 700 Series role play scenario, followed by a tailored TrailerWIN task assessment and concluded the day with a sales mastermind quiz.

For the sales category, John Delahay from Sci-Fleet Hino Brisbane took top honours, followed by Stephanie Demarco of CMI Hino Adelaide and Chris Biancucci from Adtrans Hino.

Parts interpreters demonstrated their capabilities through a customer-focused role play scenario, followed by a live parts assessment. For the first time, they also took part in a mastermind quiz.

Winning the parts award was Graham Reynold from Wagga Trucks, Alysha Taylor Prestige Hino came second, and Angelo Peponas from CMI Hino Melbourne finished in third place.

“The Skills Contest provides us with a platform to test and recognise the expertise and dedication of our people while delivering a clear benefit to our customers through increased technical knowledge and skills,” said Emery.

“It is also key in our ability to attract and retain a workforce of skilled and dedicated parts, sales and service professionals throughout the country.

“The hard work and dedication of our team resulted in global recognition earlier in the year when we received our 17th consecutive Parts Department of the Year Award and the 14th successive Service Department of the Year Award.”

Each Skills Champion receives a cash reward and an expenses-paid trip to Japan.
