“Rhys stands out as a young person who has grown up in the industry but has formed his own plan for how to build his career,” LRTAQ said in a post on social media, congratulating Rhys on the win

“As part of his plan he has already invested in the industry by becoming a part owner. Rhys is highly regarded for his enthusiasm and his commitment to learning as much as he can about the transport industry as he progresses his career. Rhys strongly meets the objectives of the Young Person in Transport Award.”

Rhys was one of four finalists vying for the coveted title. LRTAQ congratulated each of the finalists for their dedication to rural transport.

During the 2025 Bull Carters Ball, Tim Welk of Camrandale Transport was named as the next Icon of the Road; and Mike Bike Bailey of RTA was awarded honorary life membership.
