A truck carrying part of a wind turbine has crashed into a bridge, causing closures along a major Queensland highway, with lengthy delays expected.
The incident occurred on the Warrego Highway, when the oversize load struck the Mount Crosby Road overpass.
Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has advised that the westbound lanes of the Warrego Highway and all lanes of the Mount Crosby Road overpass at Tivoli are closed as a result.
Traffic is being diverted from the Warrego Highway and onto the Mount Crosby Road exit.
TMR crews are now on site undertaking structural inspections to determine the extent of the damage.
“Safety is our priority, and the road will only be reopened after these thorough bridge inspections are complete, and it is safe to do so,” TMR said.
“Long delays are expected, and road users are encouraged to check QLDTraffic before undertaking any travel.”
