Major work on the New England Highway bypass of Singleton, New South Wales, will start in mid-2024.
Transport for NSW is planning for a future New England Highway Singleton Bypass to improve traffic flow, travel times and safety by reduced traffic including heavy freight.
A design and construction contract has been awarded to ACCIONA Construction Australia, who will finalise the detailed design for the bypass and start major work in mid-2024.
The eight-kilometre-bypass will be Singleton’s biggest infrastructure project.
On completion, the project will bypass five sets of traffic lights in Singleton’s CBD and remove around 15,000 vehicles per day from the town centre.
The bypass is expected to open to traffic in late 2026.
