The northbound heavy vehicle safety station at Marulan will be closed for much of May due to replacement of concrete slabs on Hume Highway northbound lanes from 500 metres south of Highland Way for 2.5 kilometres.
Work will be carried out from Monday, May 5, to Friday, May 23, between 7am and 7pm on weekdays, and between 7am and 3pm on Saturdays, weather permitting.
The northbound weighbridge will be closed during this work, except for prescheduled safety checks from Monday, May 12, to Friday, May 16.
The Logbook Hill northbound heavy vehicle rest area will also be closed during this work.
During work, northbound traffic will be diverted onto southbound lanes under contraflow traffic arrangements 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until work is complete.
Graphic: TfNSWA reduced speed limit of 60km/h will be in place and motorists should allow up to 10 minutes’ additional travel time. Weekend travel times may vary and drivers are advised to expect delays and allow up to 20 minutes’ additional travel time.
Northbound access to and from Highland Way from the Hume Highway will be closed. Road users will be detoured via Murrimba Road, and should allow up to 20 minutes’ additional travel time, depending on destination.
Northbound access to and from Red Hills Road from the Hume Highway will be closed. Light vehicles only will be detoured via Wollumbi Road and Red Hills Road and should allow up to five minutes’ additional travel time.
The Brayton Road northbound entry onto the Hume Highway will be closed. The Hume Highway can be accessed northbound via George Street and Medway Road.
Heavy vehicles over five tonne will need to use Brayton Road and George Street to access the Hume Highway.
Oversize overmass vehicles wider than 4.5 metres will need to use the designated pullover areas to arrange access through the work area.
Access for heavy vehicles to and from Gunlake Quarry via Red Hills Road and the Hume Highway will be maintained in both directions at all times under the direction of traffic control.
Service stations in both directions at Marulan will remain open.
