The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has confirmed that Victorian Minister for Roads & Road Safety and Ports & Freight, Melissa Horne, will officially open the Alternative Fuel Summit 2024.
The event will take place on Tuesday 19 November, at Hyatt Place, Essendon Fields.
This year’s Summit, the third in the VTA’s series on decarbonising the freight and logistics industry, will focus on supporting transport operators through the transition to alternative fuels and sustainable energy sources.
VTA CEO, Peter Anderson, welcomed the Minister’s involvement.
“Minister Horne has been instrumental in driving the Victorian Government’s strategy for transitioning away from fossil fuels,” he said.
“Her leadership and insights will be invaluable as our industry embarks on this critical and inevitable journey.
“We are thrilled that the Minister, along with senior representatives from Freight Victoria, will join us to address the Summit and share updates on how the Government will support transport operators through this transformation.”
The Summit’s theme, Decarbonisation – the Realities for Commercial Transition, will feature a diverse range of expert speakers from the energy and equipment sectors, government, academia and climate economics.
Sessions will explore the cost of transitioning to low- and zero-emission fuel sources, the pace of regulatory changes and targets for the freight industry.
Case studies from Victorian operators will also be presented to offer practical insights into the transition process.
“This year’s Summit will provide attendees with the most up-to-date information and practical strategies to help navigate the challenges of decarbonisation,” Anderson said.
“We are also grateful for the ongoing support of our sponsors, CMV Truck & Bus and Viva Energy Australia, who are committed to helping the industry achieve these important goals.”
The event will run from 8am to 5pm and tickets are priced at $176 (including GST), covering morning and afternoon tea, as well as lunch.
Attendees are encouraged to register early as tickets are selling fast.
