The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is releasing two tools to support heavy vehicle access and road managers.
The Historic Access Reporting Tool (HART) and Access Permit Rapid Cost Benefit Analysis Tool (Rapid CBA) have been specifically designed to help road managers find new efficiencies in administering permits.
“Used together, these tools can help road managers increase their productivity by identifying permit applications for the same vehicle type that are being submitted and approved repeatedly,” said NHVR Acting Chief Safety and Productivity Officer, Paul Sariban.
The HART allows users to generate historical permit data to identify trends in heavy vehicle usage across the network and enable full visibility of past access decisions.
The Rapid CBA uses data from the HART and then allows road managers to evaluate the time and costs of administering repeated permits.
According to Sariban, the NHVR’s growing number of safety and productivity tools will assist to deliver safe, productive and sustainable heavy vehicle movements that enhance community liveability, drive Australia’s economy and support a resilient supply chain.
“The release of these tools not only aligns with our intention to make more services and data accessible via NHVR Go, but also implement our Heavy Vehicle Productivity Plan, to drive actions such as easing the burden of permits,” he said.
“With an increasing demand on the supply chain, we want to ease the burden of permits on road managers and industry, and these tools can help better guide access decisions to save time and free up resources.”
In other news, Röhlig Australia, has moved into a 18,500-square-metre warehouse and office.
