Nominations Open For a Pair of Young Driver Awards

You can help shape the future of the transport industry as nominations open for a pair of young driver awards.

The 2024 Rural Transport Rising Star and the Livestock, Bulk and Rural Carriers Association (LBRCA) Young Driver of the Award 2024 are both now accepting nominations.

Presented by the Australian Livestock and Rural Transports Association (ALRTA) and PowerTorque with support from bp, we are looking for a Rural Transport Rising Star for 2024.

Set to presented at the LRTAQ/ALRTA Combined Conference in Toowoomba on March 21, 2024, the award shines the spotlight on the best young people working in the rural trucking industry and driving it forward.

Last year’s winner, Amy Throckmorton, works as an operations manager for TGR Transport in Geelong.

The entry criteria are simple:

Entrants to be under 35 years.
Will be working in a rural area or involved in rural transport
They do not need to be a member of an industry association, but need to be nominated by an industry association member.

LBRCA Young Driver of the Year Award

The LBRCA Young Driver of the Year Award is being presented again in 2024, which recognises the outstanding contributions of up and comers in the road transport industry.

The winner will be announced at the annual LBRCA Conference, which is scheduled to take place in Wagga Wagga across February 23 and 24, 2024.

Young drivers aged between 21 and 35 years are eligible for nomination, and submissions must come from an LBRCA member. Nominees can either be LBRCA members or work directly for a member.

LBRCA President Wade Lewis says the award is a significantly important one for the association.

“The young driver awards recognise our top young drivers and showcase their commitment to safety and best practice,” he says.

The winner of the Young Driver of the Year Award will be rewarded with a $5,000 study tour to the United States, New Zealand, or Western Australia, providing them with valuable insights and experiences to further their careers.

The nominees are evaluated by a panel of judges that includes former award winners, award sponsor representatives, and award steering committee members.

Three finalists will be selected, with the winner announced at the LBRCA annual conference. The award winner will subsequently represent the LBRCA and young drivers as a safety ambassador for Safe Work NSW.

This is your last chance to nominate for the award, with applications closing on January 19.

To submit nominations or for more information, please visit the LBRCA website at www.lbrca.org.au or contact Bec Coleman at office@lbrca.org.au or 0432 336 718.
