NSW crossing to suit oversize vehicles

The reconstruction of Wombat Crossing on Fitzroy Street, New South Wales, will make it accessible for oversize and over mass heavy vehicle loading.

Goulburn Mulwaree Council was informed by Transport for NSW that despite the crossing being installed to Australian Standards, it needs to be reconstructed to better cater for heavy vehicles – in particular wind farm trucks.

Works to remove and reconstruct the raised crossing is scheduled to commence on 15 May and will take approximately four weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Goulburn Mulwaree Council said works will be undertaken from 7am to 5pm daily, as well as some night works from 6pm to 6am to ensure the project can be completed in a shorter timeframe.

“Council appreciates this can be temporarily inconvenient for residents and appreciates your understanding during these works,” it said in a statement.

In other news, seven new overtaking lanes to improve road safety and efficiency on the Bruce Highway have been completed between Bowen and Ayr.
