Over 9000 Hino 500 Series trucks recalled

Hino has issued a recall for 9168 trucks in its 500 Series range due to issues with the wiring harness routing.

The affected models were manufactured between 2018 – 2024.

The recall notice said, “Due to variations in wiring harness routing, there is a possibility that the wiring harness insulation may wear due to contact with the engine and chassis.

“In the worst-case scenario, the wiring could short circuit, resulting in electrical damage and potential fire. This may lead to serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users, and/or damage to property.”

Owners of affected vehicles are advised to contact their local Hino dealer to arrange an appointment to have the repair undertaken, free of charge. The Hino Care Centre can be contacted on 1300 014 466 or by emailing customersupport@hino.com.au.
