The Oversize Vehicle Entry Lane across the screening lane at Mount White Heavy Vehicle Safety Station has been closed indefinitely.
The NHVR has warned that vehicles over 3.8m wide are now unable to enter the HVSS through the screening lane and must remain on the M1 Motorway, avoiding the safety station altogether.
Vehicles less than 3.8m wide can still enter the screening lane as normal.
Signage has been installed to reflect the new restriction.
Meanwhile the NHVR has also alerted drivers of upcoming road closures happening on the Ballarat Road in Victoria, between Princes Highway-Geelong Road and Tiernan Street from 9pm Friday March 22 until 6am Monday March 25.
This is to facilitate the installation of a pedestrian footbridge between the new Footscray Hospital and Victoria University.
Heavy vehicle drivers are advised to use the heavy vehicle detour route via Anderson Road and Sunshine Road through to Princes Highway-Geelong Road, to reduce traffic and noise impacts for local residents.
“Please remember to pre-plan your journey and allow additional travel time,” the regulators said in an update.
