Access to the Peak Downs Highway near Caval Ridge Mine in Queensland has been restored.
A temporary sidetrack is also now open for oversize overmass loads with a maximum width of 10 metres until work to reinstate the overpass to a safe condition is completed.
The Peak Downs Highway had been temporarily closed at Caval Ridge Mine, following an incident that occurred two weeks ago.
The overpass bridge was badly damaged when an excavator being carried on a float attempted to pass under it.
The excavator was being moved on a Caval Ridge mine haul road that runs under the Peak Downs Highway.
The heavy vehicles unit at the Department of Transport and Main Roads added that intermittent delays can be expected, so please allow extra travel time.
