Popular Glendambo Roadhouse sold to AMPM

The former Glendambo Ampol Roadhouse on the Stuart Highway in South Australia has been purchased by AMPM, a chain of convenience stores affiliated with bp.

Ampol has ceased trading at the site as of July 26.

A spokesperson for bp told Big Rigs that the AMPM BP Glendambo Travelstop is open to the public and has been upgraded “to better serve the mobility needs of customers”.

The site offers 24/7 fuel access, a new restaurant/diner, toilets and showers, a new shop, and new tanks and dispensers.

Located about 254 kilometres south of Coober Pedy and 286km north of Port Augusta, the Glendambo Ampol Roadhouse was a very popular spot with truckies.

It provided fuel and gas, a licensed restaurant, a pay phone, toilets and ice for travellers.

In the past, many of our readers contacted us to praise the staff, the parking facilities and the food.
