QA Hay partners with Visy Logistics to deliver Australian hay across the globe

QA Hay has partnered with Visy Logistics to export premium hay from the Wimmera to international markets.

Visy Logistics will provide an end-to-end supply chain specifically for the region’s farmers to get their hay from the farm gate, through to container operations at Warracknabeal, road transport to the Port of Melbourne and international shipping to global destinations.

The move will create up to 25 new roles including truck drivers, container pad operators, administration, supervisory positions and a global forwarding role – with positions split between Melbourne and Warracknabeal.

Initial exports are planned for Japan and China, with the potential for expansion into Southeast Asia and the Middle East based on customer demand.

Visy Logistics will use advanced technologies, including MT Data, LoadSmart, and Guardian Seeing Machine to provide real-time tracking, improved safety and reliable delivery.

“We’re proud to support regional growers to get their goods to international markets,” said Visy Logistics Australia – Country Manager, Wayne Boxshall.

“Our growth is linked to the growth of businesses in the region. We’re committed to regional jobs and high quality logistics services that can help companies like QA Hay continue to grow.”

Scott Somers, owner of QA Hay, added, “The partnership strengthens our ability to deliver premium Australian hay to international markets with efficiency and reliability.

“This agreement makes it easy for farmers to get their hay from farm gate to port, supporting our commitment to quality and service. As Australia’s newest hay export business, this partnership marks an exciting step in building a strong and sustainable future for our global customers.”

Visy Logistics is also continuing to grow across regional Victoria, with recent operations launched in Bendigo, St Arnaud, Ballarat, and Mildura, complementing existing work in Shepparton and Wodonga.
