Register for the next NBTA General Meeting

Registrations are open for the National Bulk Tanker Association’s (NBTA) General Meeting in Melbourne on 17 August 2023.

The meeting will take place at VTA Head Office at Mirrat House, Level 1/46 Kooringa Wy, Port Melbourne VIC 3207 from 9am to 3pm, with light breakfast and coffee to be served at 8am.

The speakers and key topics for the General Meeting have been locked in.

WorksSafe Victoria Senior Manager Chemical Safety, Liz Moore, will introduce her new team to provide an update on their focus areas and WorkSafe’s new responsibilities in road transport.

Attendees will be given the opportunity to have their say on whether diesel should be regulated as Dangerous Goods (DG).

Leading the National Transport Commission’s (NTC) full review of the Australian Dangerous Goods Code (ADG), Manager of Legislative Maintenance, Debra Kirk, will debate diesel as a DG with NBTA’s members and provide the latest updates on the ADG code review.

Following a risk-based approach for DG travelling through tunnels being proposed in a recent report, Andrew Beecroft from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) will provide an update as a member of the project review team.

Lastly, Victorian Department of Transport and Planning Manager Land Freight Systems, Ian Mond, will present on the bulk tanker data sharing study.

In other news, work is continuing to upgrade a major highway in New South Wales’ north-west to provider smoother and safer journeys for freight operators and local residents.
