Brisbane-based transport company, Richers Transport, is celebrating 90 years of operation.
Richers Transport was established in 1935 after founder, Walter Richers, was working for an ice vendor delivering ice to residences in Maryborough, Queensland.
With the ice vendor running into financial difficulties, Richers was given a Ford Model T truck in lieu of wages which he went on to use for other work as well.
This eventuated into the creation of Richers Transport.
The business has since expanded into a significant carrier based along the eastern seaboard.
It now specialises in transport and logistics services from Bundaberg and Brisbane down to New South Wales and Victoria with a fleet of over 450 units including prime movers and flat top, curtainsider, extendable and drop deck trailers.
The company is now run by second generation family member and Managing Director, Graham Richers.
“It has been quite a journey, only made possible by the support of many dedicated people,” Richers Transport said.
“As we mark this milestone, we sincerely thank all those who have contributed to the company’s success.”
In other news, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has opened a new state-of-the-art contract logistics centre in Truganina, Victoria.
