Road train grounded after inspection uncovers issue with tow coupling

A Type 1 road train has been grounded after a programmed vehicle inspection near Goondiwindi, Queensland revealed issues with the tow coupling.

“After presenting to its programmed vehicle inspection like this, the vehicle was immediately defected and grounded until the tow coupling is rectified,” said the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).

“The operator was issued with a defect notice, with the vehicle decoupled and trailers taken away as separate combinations.”

The NHVR has also issued a reminder that any drivers feeling pressured to drive an unsafe vehicle can contact the Heavy Vehicle Confidential Reporting Line on 1800 931 785.
