Truckies are advised of changed traffic conditions next week to carry out construction work for the Hexham Straight Widening project near Newcastle, NSW.
To minimise the impact to drivers, work will be carried out from 7pm, Sunday, June 23, and finishing Friday, June 28 at 5am, weather permitting.
Traffic impacts are:
Permanent closure of the ‘U-turn’ bay on Maitland Road, near Hexham Station from Sunday, June 23.
Lane closure and a temporary reduced speed of 40km/h will be in place on the outbound lane between Old Maitland Road (east) and the Oak Precinct on Sunday, June 23 and Monday, June 24.
Lane closure and a temporary reduced speed of 40km/h will be in place on the inbound lane of Maitland Road near Shamrock Street on Sunday, June 23.
Lane closures, a reduced speed of 40km/h and intermittent stoppages on the inbound and outbound lanes of Maitland Road between Sandgate Cemetery and Ironbark Creek Bridge from 6.30pm Tuesday, June 25 to 5.30am Wednesday, June 26.
Lane closures and a reduced speed of 40km/h will be in place on the inbound and outbound lanes and the turning lane at the intersection of Newcastle Inner City Bypass and Maitland Road on Wednesday, June 26 and Thursday, June 27.
Lane closures and a reduced speed of 40km/h on the inbound and outbound lanes of Maitland Road between Old Maitland Road and Ironbark Creek Bridge on Sunday, June 23, Monday, June 24, Wednesday, June 26 and Thursday, June 27.
A temporary speed of 60km/h will remain in place through the project work zone during ongoing day work, and a reduction to 40km/h during night works.
Operators of oversize and overmass vehicles with a ground contact wider than 3.2 metres are advised to contact the project team at least one day ahead of movement on 1800 515 141. Significant delays will occur if failure to contact.
Drivers are advised to follow the directions of signs and traffic controllers, use alternative routes where possible or allow up to 15 minutes extra travel time.
