SRT Logistics and Pickering Transport win prestigious Primary Connect awards

SRT Logistics has won Large Carrier of the Year and Pickering Transport the Small Carrier of the Year prize at the ninth annual Primary Connect Transport Safety Day for outstanding performance in safety, compliance and service.

Director of Primary Connect+ and Transport, Chris Brooks said: “The Primary Connect Carrier of the Year Awards recognise carriers that go above and beyond, demonstrating the highest level of service and outstanding professionalism while reflecting our own values and commitment to safety.

“I’d like to congratulate SRT Logistics and Pickerings for stepping up to the challenge during a volatile year that has included floods and rail closures. Our carrier partners have allowed us to continue to deliver to our customers across the country, and we’re incredibly grateful.”

The awards were held at Woolworths Group’s head office in Sydney on November 17, with 150 carrier partner representatives, industry professionals, and leaders from Primary Connect attending the event. This is the the third time SRT Logistics has taken out the Carrier of the Year award.

“Winning this award is really special. It means a lot to our people – we’re not only providing such an important service to the Tasmanian community, but we’re also being recognised for our efforts by one of our key partners,” said SRT Logistics CEO Robert Miller.

“This is a great reward for all of our people who are out there every single day putting safety and customers first. It’s evidence of a job well done.”

Primary Connect has been working with SRT Logistics for more than 15 years, and their 360 employees currently transport approximately 530,000 pallets of goods for Woolworths Group and Primary Connect + commercial customers each year.

Small Carrier of the Year, Pickering Transport began partnering with Primary Connect in 1977 and operates from branches across the Eastern seaboard. They deliver pallets from suppliers into the Adelaide Primary Connect distribution centre, and from the Adelaide distribution centres into Woolworths and BIG W stores in the Riverland, Mildura and Iron Triangle areas.

General manager of Pickering Transport, Roger Pickering, said: “This award is recognition for our staff who have worked extremely hard with Primary Connect to make our workplace a better, safer environment.

“As a family-owned and run business, it’s a privilege to play such a pivotal role in getting those groceries into the stores for local families, and to be recognised in this way is very humbling.”

Pickering Transport delivers approximately 2400 pallets for Woolworths per week across 7 days and has been an early adopter of many transport safety technologies, including driver fatigue detection cameras and safety light systems for their trailers.

Primary Connect operates one of Australia’s largest supply chains with more than 8000 truck movements per day for Woolworths Group, with further truck movements for their commercial customers of Primary Connect +.
