Tributes flow for beloved truckie Lucas Hargreaves

The truckie who lost his life in the two-truck crash near Gin Gin on Friday evening has been remembered as a beloved father and soulmate who would stop for a chat with anyone.

Lucas Hargreaves was tragically killed when the truck he was driving on his usual run from Brisbane to Rockhampton collided with another truck at the intersection of Bruce Highway and Duckpond Road at Takilberan.

The other driver, a 25-year-old Logan Reserve man, was transported to Bundaberg Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A post on a GoFundMe page set up for the family described Lucas as the soulmate of his wife Erinne Hargreaves.

“His children miss their father deeply. Words cannot express the immense loss they would all be feeling,” the post reads.

“Lucas was (as his mum says) the life of the party, even if there wasn’t a party. He was a husband, father, son, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew and friend to so many.

“He has a great community and many people may know him as Box. Everywhere he went, he’d stop for a chat, no matter who you were. He has left a huge whole in the hearts of those who knew him.”

At the time of writing, 120 donations had been made to the GoFundMe fundraiser and $19,950 raised toward the $35,000 target.
