Queensland Police have charged a 27-year-old man following a string of alleged dangerous driving incidents across the Gold Coast yesterday.
The truck and dog combination was tracked by police helicopter just after 1pm as it crossed the New South Wales border into Queensland.
Polair continued to track the truck as it allegedly swerved and damaged multiple vehicles along the Pacific Motorway.
A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed just before 1.30pm on the M1 at Currumbin Waters.
The truck allegedly drove in the wrong direction along the motorway before coming to stop near Yatala a short time later.
The driver, a 27-year-old New South Wales man, allegedly left the scene on foot, and was taken into police custody nearby.
He was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital and was released overnight.
He has been charged with eight offences including one count each of wilful damage, drink driving, driving without a licence, and posses property connected to drug offence, and four counts of fail to comply with duties of driver involved in crash.
The 27-year-old was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court today, June 21.
