Truckies can expect lengthy delays at Wallendbeen this week

Truckies should factor in lengthy detours to their trips around Wallendbeen, NSW, this week as work begins to fix the damage done to a temporary bridge on Burley Griffin Way.

Work is being carried out between 7am to 6pm from today until Sunday, February 2, weather permitting, and a large crane will be on site with traffic control and local detours in place.

The Morrisons Hill Road and Silo Road intersections with Burley Griffin Way will be closed for the duration of the project.

Heavy vehicle detours will remain in place until the temporary bridge is repaired and this section of Burley Griffin Way is re-opened.

All traffic including heavy vehicles up to 26 metres operating at HML are detoured via Cootamundra and Stockinbingal, using the Olympic Highway, Stockinbingal Road and Burley Griffin Way.

Transport for NSW (TfNSW) said this will add around 20 minutes to journeys.

Heavy vehicles longer than 26 metres (including PBS 2B+, Class 1 OSOM vehicles, and special purpose vehicles, including cranes) must detour via Temora using Goldfields Way/Olympic Highway to Wagga Wagga, then Sturt Highway/Edward Street to the Hume Highway in both directions.

TfNSW said this change will add around 90 minutes to journeys.

Operators of heavy vehicles are also advised:

If travelling under a notice, to consult their relevant enforceable network map to confirm a suitable approved alternate route.
If travelling under a permit, they must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the NHVR.
