The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has re-elected President, Mike Lean, and Vice-President, Dennis Ryan, to their respective roles at the organisation’s 120th Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday.
VTA CEO, Peter Anderson, congratulated both members on their accomplishments.
“Mike and Dennis have been long-serving members of the VTA Executive Council and have provided steady and dedicated leadership over their many years of service,” he said.
“The VTA Executive Council and Secretariat is appreciative of their efforts.”
In his President’s report, Mike touched on some of the VTA’s notable efforts and achievements during the past year.
He acknowledged many of the external issues that have impacted the transport industry by pushing up prices and disrupting supply chains, such as war in Eastern Europe, precarious international shipping lanes, and more recently floods in south-eastern Australia.
“Mike indicated that through all these challenges, the VTA has continued to advocate for our state and federal leadership to support freight operators with legislation and public policy to help ease the financial impact,” Anderson said.
“He also touched on our industry leadership in the areas of training, decarbonisation, minimum standards and infrastructure planning.
“I would like to endorse Mike’s acknowledgement and thanks to our Members and Associate Members for their ongoing and loyal support of the VTA.
“We are fortunate to have a very engaged and dedicated Executive Council that meets regularly to provide counsel, strategic direction and advice to the Secretariat and myself as CEO. I thank them for their time, effort and leadership.”
