WA Police investigate after double fatality on North West Coastal Hwy

A truck driver and passenger have been killed in a head-on collision with another truck on North West Coastal Highway in WA at the weekend.

WA Police say the two trucks crashed in Wooramel, about 119km south of Carnarvon, at about 1am on Sunday.

Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are now investigating and urging anyone who saw the crash, or either truck travelling in the area prior to the crash, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at crimestopperswa.com.au.

According to a police media release, at about 1.10am a DAF truck towing two trailers was travelling north on the North West Coastal Highway, and a Mercedes Benz truck also towing two trailers was travelling south on the North West Coastal Highway when they were involved in a collision.

The driver of the DAF truck, a 36-year-old man, was taken to the Carnarvon Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver and passenger of the Mercedes Benz truck, both men in their 30s, received critical injuries as a result of the crash and died at the scene.
