Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has released details of changed traffic conditions on the Hume Highway at Marulan next week as the next stage in $35 million worth of section repairs gets underway.
Damaged concrete slabs will be replaced with high-strength asphalt road pavement on the northbound lanes from Marulan South Road for 1.1 kilometres.
Work will be carried out from Monday, March 17, to Thursday, April 10, between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Saturday and from 7pm to 6am, Sunday to Thursday nights, weather permitting.
During work, northbound traffic will be diverted onto southbound lanes under contraflow traffic arrangements 24 hours a day until work is complete.
TfNSW graphic lays it all out for truckies. Image: TfNSWA reduced speed limit of 80km/h will be in place and truckies should allow up to five minutes’ additional travel time, said TfNSW.
Vehicles travelling northbound and requiring access to Jerrara Road and Marulan South Road from the Hume Highway will be detoured via Brayton Road and should allow up to 10 minutes additional travel time.
Vehicles requiring northbound access to the Hume Highway from Jerrara Road and Marulan South Road will be detoured via Munro Road and should allow up to five minutes additional travel time.
Operators of oversize and/or overmass vehicles wider than 3.2 metres will be required to use the designated pullover areas and contact traffic control to arrange access through the work area.
Access to Holcim and Boral quarries at this location will be maintained in both directions at all times under the direction of traffic control.
Once the work has been completed, TfNSW said it will evaluate the impact of the change and determine if the new approach should be rolled out on other sections of the highway.
